team failed to recognize the developing purchasing power of WOMEN and their ever increasing desirer for premium products. In 1975 I wrote my senior business paper while attending the University of Alabama, "Sears Collapse". My Dad got a promotion to Phila, then became a regional credit manager but loved Vineland & the people. It was a great company culture in those days. I remember the Sears Family summertime BBQ, everybody came. No one lost their job and employees help in the clean up, how refreshing.

His brother was Tyrone Powell the movie star. This pool was in the store, what could go wrong? The blade to motor kept rubbing against the pools liner, "clean up in isle 3.4.5. For a 4th of July promotion "they" (no names) decided it would be a great idea to put a motor boat, Sears sold them too, in the pool. Jimmy Stuart ran the sporting goods department. I would play in that store all the time waiting for Dad to get off, everyone working there knew me Little Ed. He use to walk me through that store hundreds of times and yes those floors are original. My Dad was the store credit manager from ’52 to ’60 Easy Ed Donegan. A stairway next to the door went up to the employee lunch room (the Lantern Room) run by a young girl named Dawn. The goal of CapOhTV is to point out why school is not important and why every person needs to take responsibility for his or her own education. Sadly, Sears is dying (if not already dead) and so are plenty of other retail stores closing in 2017. Oh well… hopefully this video is enough for those people out there who remember this store but aren’t able to visit it one last time before it officially closes in September 2017.

However, I have a feeling they’re going to be on the look out for people who aren’t there to shop. The liquidation sale hasn’t started as of this recording, so I may go back and finish the tour. I accepted this, said thanks, and left the store. The manager’s verdict was that I needed permission from Media Relations to continue recording. I told her since the store would be closed soon, I thought it would be nice to document the store. I was on my way to the final section of the store (hardware/large appliances) when the cashier paged for a manager to find out if I was allowed to take pictures of the store. Unfortunately, my store tour was cut short due to a suspicious cashier. I’m sure many other people have similar memories and that’s why I wanted to make a short video tour of the building. I have fond childhood memories of going to the Vineland Sears with my dad in the 1990s and early 2000s. It has been a long time coming and it’s no surprise to locals that this location is now one of the many Sears stores closing in 2017. It still has its original signage as Sears Roebuck and Co.

This historic Sears opened in 1951 and is a landmark at the intersection of Landis Avenue and Delsea Drive. After 66 years, the Sears in Vineland, NJ, is finally closing.
